US-China tensions escalate after US closes Houston based Chinese consulate for spying
The Chinese government was ordered to shut down their Houston consulate on Tuesday as the consulate is said to be the primary driver of spying operations within the United States.
The US state department said: “We have directed the closure of PRC Consulate General Houston in order to protect American intellectual property and Americans’ private information.”
The FBI, DOJ, and State Department have made a concerted effort to combat growing Chinese influence and power over the United States.
After the consulate was ordered closed trash cans full of documents were seen being burned in the consulate’s courtyard. Videos show saw paper being burned in what appeared to be open trash cans outside the building.
